Meaning

Represents decay, corruption, and the work of restoration. What has been neglected or spoiled must be addressed with decisive action. This is a time to identify what has gone wrong in one's affairs, family, or situation and to apply determined effort to set it right.

Interpretation

Six Yao (Lines) with Classical Quotes

1st Yao (初爻)

干父之蕈,有子,考无咎,厉终吉。

English: Working to correct the father's mistakes. If there is a worthy son, the father is blameless. Danger but ultimately good fortune. A capable successor can redeem past failures.

2nd Yao (二爻)

干母之蕈,不可贞。

English: Working to correct the mother's mistakes. Do not persist too rigidly. Gentleness and tact are needed when addressing the faults of those close to you.

3rd Yao (三爻)

干父之蕈,小有悔,无大咎。

English: Working to correct the father's mistakes — some regret, but no great blame. Even if the correction is somewhat excessive, the intent is right.

裕父之蕈,往见吝。

English: Tolerating the father's mistakes brings regret if continued. Excessive leniency toward inherited problems only perpetuates the decline.

干父之蕈,用證。

English: Working to correct the father's mistakes, one earns praise. When the correction is accomplished well, it brings genuine recognition and honor.

不事王侯,高尚其事。

English: Not serving kings or princes, one's affairs are elevated. The person who withdraws from the corrupted world to cultivate personal virtue holds to a higher calling.
